Methyl glycolate(CAS#96-35-5)
Methyl glycolate(CAS#96-35-5)
Introduction
Methyl acetate is also called methyl acetate esterified hydroxyl. The following is an introduction to the properties, uses, preparation and safety information of methyl acetate:
Properties: Methyl acetate is a colorless liquid with poor water solubility. It is hydrolyzable and can undergo transesterification reaction with water to produce alcohol and acetic acid. It has a fruity scent.
Uses: Methyl acetate is widely used in the chemical industry. It can be used as a solvent for the fields of paint, coatings and inks. It can also be used as a raw material for the synthesis of plastics such as cellulose acetate and nitrocellulose acetate.
Preparation method: Methyl acetate can be prepared by reaction of ethanol and acetic anhydride. In the reaction, ethanol reacts with acetic anhydride through an esterification reaction to form methyl acetate, and the resulting reactant can then be distilled and purified to obtain the product.
It is a flammable substance and should be kept away from fire sources. During the operation, avoid contact with the skin and eyes. If there is any contact, rinse with clean water immediately. Must be stored in an airtight container away from sunlight and high temperatures. Waste and containers need to be properly disposed of and relevant local regulations are complied with. Appropriate protective equipment such as gloves and safety glasses should be worn when using methyl acetate.
