 Introduction osmanthus  Absolute(CAS#68917-05-5)

Nature
Pale yellow or brownish-yellow paste with a sweet osmanthus fragrance.

Preparation Method
Collect fresh flowers from Osmanthus trees (including Osmanthus fragrans var. thunbergii and Osmanthus fragrans var. aurantiacus) that are over 10 years old and process promptly. Alternatively, fresh flowers can be moistened with a brine solution (water: salt: alum = 100:30:3), placed in jars, filled with brine, packed tightly, and sealed for storage. During processing, take out the osmanthus flowers, rinse with clean water, drain, and process immediately. Osmanthus extract paste is prepared using a rotary drum extractor with petroleum ether as the solvent, in a flower-to-solvent ratio of 1:2 (by weight). After 2 hours of extraction, wash twice. Combine the extract and first wash, clarify by removing the lower layer water, pollen, and other impurities, then transfer to a normal-pressure concentrator, and concentrate under temperatures not exceeding 70°C until the solid content is 2%–2.5%, recovering the petroleum ether. Next, cool the concentrate, filter, clarify for 30 minutes, and then perform vacuum concentration at 50–55°C to recover most of the petroleum ether. After obtaining the crude paste, extract with anhydrous ethanol, then remove the ethanol by vacuum distillation to obtain pure osmanthus oil.

Uses
It can be used as the primary fragrance agent in osmanthus perfume and as a modifier in perfumes such as violet and acacia. As a high-end natural fragrance, it is widely used in floral perfumes, mainly in premium cosmetics, and to a lesser extent in soaps and food flavorings.
