3. Preparation Method:

The reaction mixture is stirred under reflux for 5 hours. The combined organic phases are dried over anhydrous magnesium sulfate, and the solvent is removed under reduced pressure to yield 2,7-dibromofluorene (98% yield) as a yellow solid. The product can be purified by recrystallization from ethyl acetate/hexane (5:95, v/v) to obtain pure 2,7-dibromofluorene as light yellow crystals.
