Use This pigment is a newly developed new structural pigment variety, having blue-red color and stronger blue light than pigment red 170 and pigment red 210. Its application performance is not as good as pigment red 170, such as low light resistance 0.5-1 grade, sensitive to varnish, sterilization treatment, other properties are similar (such as tinting, gloss and transparency). Mainly used in coating and solvent ink and water-based ink, fabric printing and dyeing.
The pigment varieties give neutral red, there are two kinds of crystal type products; Transparent blue red light fastness is grade 6, non-transparent light fastness is grade 7, high hiding power, more stable to solvents; Novoperm Red F2RK 70 specific surface area of 23 m2/g; Mainly used in coatings, with molybdenum chrome orange, quinacridone color matching; Transparent recommended

Introduction

Pigment Red 170, also known as Ruby PB29, is a common organic pigment. The following is a brief introduction to the properties, uses, preparation methods and safety information of Pigment Red 170:- The chemical name of Pigment Red 170 is 2-oxozirconium tandem hydrophilic noise red. -- The color is bright red with good pigment strength. - This pigment has good lightfastness and heat resistance, and does not fade easily. - It has a high solubility in organic solvents. Usage:- Pigment Red 170 is widely used in paints, plastics, adhesives, inks, inks and other fields. - It can be used as a pigment and coloring agent to be added to a variety of coatings and plastic products to give them a brilliant red color. - Due to its lightfastness and heat resistance, pigment red 170 is also commonly used in oil painting. Preparation method:- The preparation method of pigment red 170 is generally obtained by synthesis reaction. - The specific preparation method is complex, involving a series of organic synthesis steps and metal complexation reactions. - In general, the preparation of this pigment needs to be carried out in an organic solvent and undergo a multi-step crystallization and purification process. Safety Information:- Pigment Red 170 is relatively stable and relatively safe under normal use conditions. - However, as an organic pigment, basic safety handling measures still need to be followed. - Avoid inhaling dust or particulate matter and take care to protect the skin on your hands. - During operation, chemical storage and handling requirements should be observed to prevent accidents such as fires and leaks.

Pigment Red 170 (P.R. 170, C.I. 12475, Naphthol AS Red) is a high‑performance, medium‑shade bluish red monoazo pigment that offers an excellent balance of color strength, opacity, and durability. As a versatile pigment for industrial use, it features outstanding heat stability (up to 260‑300 °C), good lightfastness (Grade 7–8/8), and excellent resistance to acids, alkalis, and common organic solvents. In the coatings industry, P.R. 170 is widely used in high‑quality automotive OEM finishes, industrial paints, powder coatings, coil coatings, and water‑borne or solvent‑borne decorative paints, providing brilliant red shades with good coverage and weather resistance. In printing inks, it is suitable for offset lithography, water‑based flexo/gravure, and UV‑curable ink systems, delivering high tinctorial strength, good transparency, and low misting. For plastics, P.R. 170 is recommended for coloring polyolefins (PP, PE, PO), PVC, PS, and ABS through masterbatch and injection molding applications, exhibiting good migration resistance (Grade 5). Additional applications include textile printing pastes, paper coatings, and artists’ colors. Xinchem offers high‑purity Pigment Red 170 with flexible custom synthesis, custom chemical synthesis, and reliable contract manufacturing, scalable from R&D to commercial tons for global coatings, inks, and plastics markets.
