Application
Poly(acrylamide) (PAM, CAS 9003-05-8) is a high molecular weight water-soluble polymer widely used as a flocculant, thickener, and rheology modifier. It is available in nonionic, anionic, and cationic forms to suit diverse industrial applications. In water and wastewater treatment, PAM effectively aggregates suspended solids, enabling efficient sludge dewatering, clarification, and sedimentation in municipal and industrial plants. In the paper industry, it serves as a retention and drainage aid, improving fiber and filler retention and reducing fines loss. In oil and gas drilling, PAM is used as a friction reducer in hydraulic fracturing fluids and as a viscosifier and clay stabilizer in drilling muds. It also finds application in mineral processing for tailings thickening, in agriculture as a soil conditioner to prevent erosion, and in textile sizing, adhesives, and enhanced oil recovery. Xinchem offers custom synthesis, custom chemical synthesis, and contract manufacturing of high-purity polyacrylamide with tailored molecular weight and charge density, flexible scaling from R&D to commercial tons.
