Application
Trimethylolpropane (TMP, CAS 77-99-6) is a trifunctional polyol with three primary hydroxyl groups, widely used as a building block in the production of alkyd resins, polyester resins, polyurethanes, and synthetic lubricants. In the coatings industry, TMP-based alkyd resins provide excellent hardness, gloss, and weather resistance for architectural paints, industrial enamels, and automotive finishes. As a chain extender and crosslinking agent, it enhances the mechanical strength, thermal stability, and chemical resistance of polyurethane foams, elastomers, adhesives, and sealants. TMP is also employed in the synthesis of high-performance synthetic ester lubricants for refrigeration compressors, jet engines, and hydraulic systems, where it contributes to low volatility and high viscosity index. In the production of radiation-curable coatings, TMP triacrylate serves as a reactive diluent. Additionally, it functions as a curing agent for epoxy resins, a plasticizer intermediate, and a component in toner resins. Xinchem offers custom synthesis, custom chemical synthesis, and contract manufacturing of high-purity trimethylolpropane with flexible scaling from R&D to commercial tons.
