Dodecyl vinyl ether (CAS 765-14-0) is a long-chain alkyl vinyl ether monomer that serves as a reactive diluent and hydrophobic modifier in UV-curable coatings, adhesives, and sealants. Its low viscosity reduces formulation viscosity without volatile organic compounds, improving application properties while enhancing water repellency, flexibility, and weatherability. In cationic polymerization, dodecyl vinyl ether copolymerizes with maleic anhydride, acrylates, or other vinyl ethers to produce amphiphilic polymers for controlled drug delivery, surface coatings, and lubricant additives. The C12 tail provides excellent compatibility with nonpolar substrates and imparts low surface energy, making it ideal for release coatings and anti-fog applications.
