Sodium chloride(CAS#7647-14-5)
| Risk Codes | R36 - Irritating to the eyes |
| Safety Description | S24/25 - Avoid contact with skin and eyes. |
Introduction
Soluble in water and glycerin, slightly soluble in alcohol. At 25 ℃, 1g is soluble in 2.8ml of water, 2.6ml of boiling water and 10ml of glycerol, and very slightly soluble in ethanol. Its solubility in water is reduced due to the presence of hydrochloric acid, and it is almost insoluble in concentrated hydrochloric acid. The median lethal dose (rat, oral) was 3.75 /-0.43 g/kg.
Application
Sodium chloride (CAS 7647-14-5) is an essential inorganic compound widely used across pharmaceutical, food, chemical, and industrial sectors. As a pharmaceutical grade salt, it serves as an isotonic agent in intravenous infusions, dialysis solutions, and oral rehydration salts, as well as an excipient in tablet formulations. In the food industry, it functions as a preservative, flavor enhancer, and processing aid. In chemical synthesis, sodium chloride is a key raw material for producing chlorine, sodium hydroxide, and sodium carbonate via electrolysis. It is also used as a freezing point depressant, deicing agent, water softening regenerant, and in dyeing and textile processing. High purity sodium chloride is essential for laboratory reagents and buffer solutions. Xinchem offers custom synthesis, custom chemical synthesis, and contract manufacturing of high-purity sodium chloride with flexible scaling from R&D to commercial tons.
